Where it fits, by the kind of bidding you do
Six ways of bidding, six different constraints. Pick the one that sounds like your week.
01
Pick the one that sounds like your week
Each of these is the same platform meeting a different problem. The pages say what changes for that kind of contractor, and what does not.
-
Main contractors
You run the tender and coordinate a supply chain’s worth of input. The constraint is rarely the deadline in front of you — it is the queue behind it.
-
Specialists and subs
You price against a main contractor’s ITT on a tight turnaround. The risk is not losing the bid; it is winning it on a price that missed something on page 400.
-
Tier-1 enterprise
Bidding runs across several divisions at once, the answers sit all over the business, and any new system meets a security review before it meets a bid.
-
Ireland
You bid on both sides of the border. Two procurement regimes, one bid team, and the same document volume as everyone else.
-
European entrants
You are bidding into the UK and Ireland from mainland Europe. The engineering is not the problem — the submission is.
-
Bid or no bid
You bid rarely and each pursuit is expensive. The constraint is not throughput; it is choosing correctly in the first place.
02
What is the same across all six
Whatever the shape of the business, the time goes to the same place. Bid teams do not spend most of their week writing; they spend it looking for evidence the company already owns, in old submissions, technical reports and the heads of people who have since moved on.
Remove that search and the same team carries more work at the same standard. The rest — judgement about what is deliverable, what risk you carry, what you know about this client that is written down nowhere — stays with your people, because it has to.
03
If none of them quite describes you
Most businesses are a mixture. A main contractor bidding into Ireland has two of these problems at once, and a specialist inside a joint venture has three.
The quickest way through it is a live bid rather than a page. Bring one you have already submitted and we will show you what the system finds in it — which is a more useful conversation than deciding which category you belong in.
If you resell or implement software for contractors rather than bidding yourself, the channel partners page is the one you want.
